The Antigonish Reel is an independent local information utility, built and run here in Antigonish. Keeping it going costs money: hosting, tools, and the time to keep it useful. A small number of local businesses can help, with a clearly-labelled acknowledgement in return.

What stays the same

Supporting the Reel never changes what it is. For every reader:

  • The Reel stays free to read, with no paywall.
  • No tracking, no visitor profiles, no data sale.
  • No third-party ad networks and no cluttered banner ads.

How support shows up

Support is an acknowledgement, never an endorsement. A supporter is named plainly, in a quiet credit, and that is all it buys. It does not change what gets covered, how submissions are moderated, how anything is ranked, or how a correction is handled. Public-safety information (weather, roads, emergencies, medical listings, obituaries) is never sponsored.

Always free

Community groups and non-profits are never charged to be listed, and never will be. Events, notices, and community information stay free for everyone. This is about local businesses choosing to help, not about putting local information behind a fee.
