Hurricanes can bring strong winds and heavy rain that may cause damage to homes and property. In the days leading up to a hurricane, take time to prepare to help keep your family and community safe:

• Have your 72-hour emergency kit ready, with essentials like water, food, cash, and a battery-powered radio

• Fill your vehicle’s gas tank in case evacuation is needed

• Secure outdoor items like garbage bins and patio furniture

• Clear gutters and drains to help prevent flooding

• Trim dead branches and remove hazardous trees
