Hello and happy fall everyone! It’s been a minute since we’ve provided an update, and we wanted to share some news about the exciting events we have coming up! First off, we are thrilled to support the Ceol Ar Cridhe School of Celtic Music with their concert at St. Ninian Cathedral this Sunday! It will take place from 2:00pm-4:00pm on October 18th, and it will feature the AHS Ceol Ar Cridhe Pipe Band, Clan Thompson Pipe Band, Na Gaisgich Pipes and Drums, as well as dancers from the AHDA and all three local dance schools. It will also include performances by Barry MacKenzie, Margaret MacGregor, Leona Williams, and Emery Van de Wiel. It is sure to be a loaded afternoon of entertainment, and we hope you can join us! Admission is by donation in support of the Ceol Ar Cridhe School of Celtic Music, so let’s show our support of Scottish Highland culture, and help these folks bring celtic music back to our community!   Finally, we also have our oldest event returning for its 165th edition, the Feast of Saint Andrews! The first Saint Andrews dinner hosted by the Antigonish Highland Society took place all the way back in 1861, and it was our first official event! According to available records, it appears this event has continued without fail for every year since, and it is truly one of our favourites! This year we will be celebrating the occasion at the St. FX Keating Center on Saturday, November 28th from 6:00-8:00pm. Tickets are $35 for members and $40 for non-members. There will be a full turkey dinner, haggis and neeps, and of course a dram or two of scotch. There will be live entertainment and plenty of recognition for some much deserving members of our organization. We will have more details in the coming weeks, so stay tuned! Tickets will be on sale soon, so contact Dan Cochrane at admin@antigonishhighlandgames.ca to book yours!  Up next, we can’t wait to partner with the Antigonish Heritage Museum for another year of spooky ghost stories, local folklore, and other tales of the unexplained for our 4th annual Halloween Songs and Storytelling event! This year, we have decided to incorporate some live music to the evening, and we look forward to welcoming Len PD MacDonald, Derek LeBlanc, and more to the Museum to deliver some Halloween themed performances along with our usual fare of local story tellers. It is free to attend, and weather permitting we will host this event outdoors surrounding a bonfire! It is always a fabulous event, and we hope to see you there! We’ve got plenty of exciting things in-store, and we can’t wait to share in all the fun with you! We hope to see you at all of our events, and look forward to continuing promoting Scottish Highland culture in Antigonish!
