We have received multiple reports of fireworks and firecrackers being set off at all hours of the night. Not only is this activity dangerous, but it is also highly disruptive to residents.
Our By-law Enforcement Officers and the RCMP have been receiving calls from concerned neighbours regarding the loud noises, as well as the increased risk of fire, personal injury, and damage to property.
It is important to remember that consumer fireworks are prohibited by the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal when the BurnSafe map (https://novascotia.ca/burnsafe/) is in the red zone. The fine for violating daily burn restrictions is $25,000. These restrictions apply to provincial, municipal, and private campgrounds, in addition to other areas across the province.
We are asking everyone to be mindful of their neighbours and to use better judgment.
Please be considerate of those around you and help us reduce unnecessary risks and disturbances.
