161st Antigonish Highland Games

The 161st Antigonish Highland Games ran July 5 to 12, 2026, organized by the Antigonish Highland Society, which describes the Games as the longest continuously running Highland games outside Scotland. Competition centred on Columbus Field: Highland dance on the Main Stage, solo piping and drumming at Piper's Glen, heavy events and pipe band championships on the Main Field, with ceilidhs, community meals, and the Grand Street Parade running through the week around town.

Tuesday, July 7 - Culloden Memorial Ceremony at the Culloden Memorial Cairn, Knoydart.

Wednesday, July 8 - Kilted Classic golf tournament at the Antigonish Golf Club; Highland Society Night with Fairmont Road; Games Week Pub at Oak Manor.

Thursday, July 9 - Games Week Ceilidh at the Antigonish Heritage Museum.

Friday, July 10 - 5 Mile Road Race from Columbus Field; Official Opening of the 161st Games.

Saturday, July 11 - Grand Street Parade from StFX to Columbus Field; Pre-Premier Highland dancing; the New Scotland Open Championship, morning and afternoon; solo piping and drumming at Piper's Glen; Heavy Weight for Distance; the Nova Scotia Pipe Band Championships; the Mary Dundas Sword event; Massed Pipe Bands and awards; ceilidhs through the day and evening.

Sunday, July 12 - Pre-Premier Primary and Beginner dancing; the Florence MacMillan Flora event; the Highland Heart Open Premiership; Open Stone and Light Weight for Distance; Tug-of-War through three rounds; the Atlantic Canada Pipe Band Championships; the closing Massed Pipe Bands and awards and Closing Ceilidh.
